http://www.zshare.net/audio/38703152fff75e/Interview with Aren B on 09/25/2007:Brendon: One of the 1st questions we have to ask is what is the average day like in the life of Aren B?
Aren B: An average day is pretty busy for me even although i don't have a 9 to 5! When I wake up I usually start the day with several sets of push ups followed by a nice healthy breakfast...fruit and granola. I then hop on myspace to answer all my fan mail since i am a artist of the people... = ) Following that i head to my basement studio to begin voice warm ups to get me ready for recording. I am in the studio most of the day, and i end the day with a wonderful jog in the woods and a hard workout at the gym.
Brendon: What makes you so unique in r&b/hip-hop?
Aren B: I feel what makes me unique in R&B is not only my silky smooth falsetto, but my ability to beat box and rock a crowd! Not only that, I have a strong creative presence. Since I have obtained a degree in Web/Graphics, I am able to design, market and promote myself unlike many artists. I also write, record, mix and master all of my own material. On top of all of this, I also have a talent for acting and being in front of the camera.
Brendon: How old were you when you first started to really sing? Did you pursue singing or did your parents/guardians want you to pursue it?
Aren B: Although I grew up singing in the church at a young age, It was around 20 when I really started to pursue music hard core. Basketball was my first love. I played basketball in college on a scholarship.
Brendon: Were you ever in an r&b group? If so, details, please!
Aren B: Actually when I was in High school my two homies and I, Justin and Jamaro, had a little singing group called "SydeWaze." It was just for recreation though, nothing serious. No groups after that, and I don't want to be in a group.
Brendon: How old are you now?
Aren B: 24
Brendon: We heard you opened for Tyrese, how was that whole experience? Have fun? Where were the shows and were they small club shows or arena shows?
Aren B: That was a really dope experience. Meeting Tyrese and having the opportunity to open up for him was an honor. The show took place at "The Blue Note," a historical arena that names like Snoop, DMX and The Roots have performed.
Brendon: Do you have an album coming out any time soon? What's the name of it and why does it have this name?
Aren B: Right now I am currently working on an album but the release date has not been disclosed.
Brendon: Are you signed to a record label yet, if so who?
Aren B: I am not currently signed to a record label, but I work with a major production company that is making moves on my behalf as we speak. Green Ocean Music/GMB.
Brendon: You have an amazing song titled "Thirst"... Is there going to be a video anytime soon...?
Aren B: Yes. There has actually been brainstorming and a few ideas in development for a video for "Thirst." When the time is right, we will shoot it.
Brendon: What's the reason behind writing the song "Thirst"?
Aren B: Metaphorically, I wanted to portray any alcoholic beverage that could essentially be used to quench a females thirst...physically. = )
Brendon: What is the overall album mainly about?
Aren B: I write music about different angles of love, different situations of making love or falling into love, making passionate love. That's what the album is about, and that is what my music is about. I have been told my music puts one into a melodic state, takes one off into a world filled with cotton candy and passion, kisses and daydreams...
Brendon: Which singer, from any genre, most inspires you?
Aren B: Michael Jackson inspires me the most. I could never compare to such a great icon, but I have been told we have similar falsetto styles. He and Maxwell are the two I would have to say inspires me the most since my strength is singing in the falsetto range.
Brendon: Anyone featured on the album? Producers or Artists?
Aren B: Shhhh...can't tell! = )
Brendon: Who do you MOST want to do a song with? Why?
Aren B: This is a touchy subject for me because I always wanted to do a song with Aaliah. I loved her music, style, beats , the tone of her voice, her subject matter...everything!!
Brendon: You have a child, if we're correct from looking on the Myspace... What's his name? How is he as an inspiration in your music and everyday life?
Aren B: His name is Malachi...and he is my Prince!! He is 5 and he has 4 songs already. He is why I breath.
Brendon: Which artist, who is "in" right now, do you think gives you the most competition? Why?
Aren B: I would have to say Chris Brown because he is superior entertainer/performer at such a young age. His vocals are OK, but he commands the stage.
Brendon: How would you describe your self in one word?
Aren B: Aesthetic
Brendon: Do you have any upcoming concerts or tours? Where are they to?
Aren B: Nope. Under the radar...until I pounce on the music industry like a mongoose.
Brendon: Making any appearances on any shows / radio stations in the future? You should attempt to make an appearance at Jam'n 94.5 of Boston MA (jamn945.com) to spread your name and music around New England.
Aren B: Right now the Hit station that supports me is Q106.1 FM!
http://www.q1061.com/Brendon: Have an official website up and running? If so, what is the link?
Aren B: It is currently in development.
Brendon: You have a clean and cool look, is this your real style or is this what a fashion designer told you to wear(and how to dress)?
Aren B: I have a very eclectic style. I used to be the head Art Director for a fashion magazine, so I have superb taste in fashion, and always have. Since I am a Ex Collegiate athlete, I sometimes like to just wear sports apparel on a lazy day. Other times you may catch me punked out, GQ or just laid back with a hoodie.
