ALBUM: Jesse McCartney: Departure

Review:

The album begins with the new single "Leavin'". The beat is total percussion and gets into your head. You'll be humming this song after hearing it once. It then transitions into "It's Over," which continues to have a new-feel beat for Jesse. He shows some stellar vocals and continues to show maturity... even towards the beginning of the album. Following "It's Over" comes "Rock You" Ft. Sean Garret. This is no "Grippin' on My Bed"... This is the most annoying 'get-used-to' song on the album. Jesse's use of his voice is slightly irritating. Plus, Garret raps, not sings. Following one disaster comes a beautiful song titled "How Do You Sleep". The main gear of the song is towards a girl that broke up with Jesse, & Jesse can't get over her. He's wondering how ,and if she's actually over him too. Once again, continuing with shocking beats that surprise you and make you think... is this a Jesse McCartney album?! Up next is "Into Ya". Nice beat, reminds me of an 'in-R&B' song right now. He talks about sex in an alluring and semi-secret way. Following "Into Ya" comes "Make Up"... This song would be one of the best in concert because of the bass. Pretty catchy, too. "My Baby" is one of the best songs on the LP. He shows that he's in the twenties and that he has really grown as a musician. ((Love this song)) Following a magnificent "My Baby" comes a tender "Told You So". I don't know how Jesse got so many great beats on the album but high-five to him and his team! "Told You So" has some great lyrics and shows that he's still geared towards his age-group. "Relapse" comes next... sounds like a beat Ne-Yo may use on his upcoming album. "Runnin'" follows... one of the best songs on the album. Crazy lyrics and rhythm. Makes you move in your seat!!! "Freaky"... all we need to say is WOW. Polow-Da-Don produced track... He shows that he can compete with Ne-Yo's new song "Closer"... maybe it'll be his new single & video. He only needs to get some killer dance moves! The album ends with "Not Your Enemy". "Not Your Enemy" is a somber end to the amazing album. Awesome voice, awesome voice, awesome voice! Leaves you feeling determined to listen to the album again and again.

Great job Jesse! Congratulations on creating this album... it really shows growth & maturity! You won't be let down with this album. He's really going to make some artists run for the hills... Jesse's back with new music, beats, production, and a new-found-maturity! Watch out... Departed is out May 20th. Make sure you cop it.

Ne-Yo's new video, "Closer," is the ishhh. The video has an awesome Michael Jackson flare. The director seemed to have an awesome concept for how to integrate the lyrics and the slick moves of Ne-Yo. His upcoming album, 'Year of the Gentleman', is slated for a late June release. This album is seeming like a sure-fire winner. We can't wait for this album!!! Anyways, watch the video... and see how Ne-Yo is coming at Usher & Chris Brown. He's gutta show that he is still in the entertaining game, too!

Chris Brown Update

So, starting later in the summer-late fall.. CB will be beginning, or continuing(if you know his work ethic), his next album. Chris's normal ethic is to create 50+ songs and then chose 10-20 songs for an album, and then have many left over for movies, promos, new albums, campaigns, etc. When asked what the newer album, after the Re-Release of Platinum 'Exclusive', Brown said "I'll be almost twenty, so we can get a little dirty," He made sure to add, "But not R. Kelly dirty."

How dirrrty will CB get? As we've seen in his latest album, he takes love, sex, and girls to another level... not enough to be very graphic, but sexxi enough to hold down the girls... no pun intended. His newest album will obviously be from a 20 year old's point of view of love, sex, and girls... it should be an awesome album. We'll give more info when we get more information on the album...

Otherwise, get the Re-release of 'Exclusive' due out June 3rd. It should include the original 16 tracks on 'Exclusive' and then "Heart Ain't a Brain", "Picture Perfect (Remix)" Ft. Bow Wow & Hurricane Chris, "Super Human" Ft. Keri Hilson[We REALLY want to hear this one!!!], and of course the hit "Forever." Go buy "Forever" on iTunes!!!

You might remember Eric Benet from back in the day... but he's back people! with a new hit slow jam called "You're the Only One". It's got a nice motown feel to it that just makes you wanna jam. Eric Benet's voice has really grown and I'm really feeling this record, it's a hit! Right now Eric Benet is working on his new LP called "Love & Life", which should release late summer of 08'. I'm really looking forward to this comeback album... he's gonna have to come back strong if he wants to compete with Ne-Yo's "Year of the Gentleman" and Chris Brown's Re-release of "Exclusive". Anyways we rate this song a 9.2/10.0... check it out!

Usher's "Love in This Club (Part 2)"

"Love in this Club (Part 2)" is the new official remix of Ush's original "Love in this Club". The song is crazy good. Everything is changed... nothing is the same. New beat, production, lyrics, new people on the track, etc. Usher brought on the Queen B, Beyonce, and the Best Rapper Alive, Lil' Wayne, to kill the remix. They all kill it with their voices: one hundred percent on tap! Usher has different verses, not the same ones from the original. On TRL a few weeks ago Usher said that he worked with Beyonce and Jay-Z on his album... is this what he worked with Beyonce on? [[Supposedly, Ush's new single will be "The Best Thing" Ft Jay-Z]] We like the remix a lot. Awesome work Usher Raymond! This album is getting better and better each day. With a little more than a month before the album drops (May 27th), hopefully we'll be seeing more TV spots, promoting, and concert announcements. Usher's album cover for his upcoming LP, "Here I Stand", is uncovered. We think usher's photography for the album is stunning. This is a great album cover for what the album speaks about: love, loss, new beginnings(child + marriage) and the stresses of being a sex symbol and entertainer AND trying to balance a real personal life with a baby and wife. It's going to be an awesome album. The picture/album cover portrays Ush in the desert... the heat of the sun (spot light) on him... an he tries to remain strong and guarded, protecting his family and his personal life. The license plate portrays "CINCO 1126" standing for CINCO- 5th studio album...and 1126 is the date of the birth of his baby boy(November 26th). This will be a jaw-dropping r&b/hip-hop album from Usher. Can't wait for it!!!

Ryan Leslie: "Still Good"

So, with Ryan Leslie's recent urge to end up on top of the R&B game, a new track leaks.... called "Still Good". The track shows Leslie's actual R&B voice, unlike the melancholly single "Diamond Girl". He pairs a simple beat with exceptional vocals. His lyrics are some of the best we've heard from Ryan Leslie... We're hoping that the rest of his songs show as much flavor as "Still Good". He seems like he's really reaching into midtempo cuts with an upbeat bridge towards the rear 2/3 of the EP. Definitley be singin' this one for a bit... "Is the Love Still good, Is it Still good, Is it Still good..." Maybe graduating from Harvard will help his game in the R&B industry this time around!



What's the track about?

The song is about him and a woman; the woman is changing a little bit and they're going through changes as a couple. The overall tone of the song is about Ryan asking if 'the love is still good to you.' He wants the relationship to be honest and wants the girl to know that he'll always have love for her... romantically or friendly.



Who has he worked with?

Predominantly, he works on mostly all of Cassie's albums. He's also worked on songs for Beyoncé, Britney Spears, JoJo, Nina Sky, Danity Kane, Diddy, Snoop Dogg, Donell Jones, Katharine McPhee, New Edition, One Chance, B5, Cheri Dennis, Latif, Megan Rochell and M. Pokora. He's in the process of writing and producing tracks on Usher's new LP.



Overall rating?

Out of 10... this cut from R. Leslie recieves a 8.0 because the song has a sassy-smart attitude and the song showcases a sample of what Leslie's R&B voice actually is. It gets docked 2.o points because it does honestly get a little repetitive by the 2nd or 3rd time listening and the song isn't totally hott for radio. This would be a nice song to have on the album, but we hope to see much more foward-moving music from Ryan.

This video has a great feel to it. Qwote has a unique voice that really shows a great deal of push for a time in r&b where there a few (of the thousands) people made up to be super-stars. The song itself is catchy, where you'll find yourself humming it and recollecting the video an hour or two after seeing/hearing the video. With Qwote's overall look somewhere between R.Kelly-T.Pain-Lloyd. He moves around quite a bit and keeps your attention in a similar way to Tyrese... singing around the girl, in a bedroom, and on a porch. There are also pretty good lyrics in the song. We wish he had one more verse to showcase his skills... the Trina verse we could do without. Trina's verse isn't BAD by any means, but we would have rather seen another sampling of Qwote's abilities.

Some people may have heard of Ryon Lovett... Usher's new protege coming up on US Records(Usher's Label). He has a new song out called "Equation." This song is original and a half. The lyrics take math vocab(absolute value, multiply, plus, minus, fraction, solve, equation, etc...) and put it into a great love song. This song shows his phenomenal voice. The track also has a great beat to it that lures you into listen to the entire song at least 2 times in a row. We can't wait until Ryon's album drops. As a prediction, we think Ryon will be getting hott this winter... We'll see if thats what happens! We give this song a 9.0/10!

Chillin' @ Studio 72 in Atlanta

Usher, Jay-Z, Young Jeezy, and Jermaine Dupri were chillin' at Studio 72 in Atlanta not too long ago. They were basically hyping up the crowd with some Usher songs (old and new). Usher basically said a bunch of 'Okayyy, Yeah, That's whassup, and This is for my ladies...' In other words, he didnt perform or anything. Young Jeezy did about 80% of his verse in 'Love in This Club"... He did better than I thought he would live. Can't wait for the first real concert performance of Ush's new song!!!

Jackie Boyz "Topless"

Jackie Boyz have neen around and performing since 1999. In the past 6 months, they've really started to hit it off. They've had multiple bangin' songs recently, with the newest being "Topless." This new track is HOTTT! The beat is energetic and the duos voices sound on key. It's catchy and easy listening. Mainly all singing, with one verse of "R&B Rap" - a new fad from many R&B stars. Pretty good lyrics; with jokes about Kanye West and even King Kong... We want to see a real physical album released by these 2 future stars of R&B! We give this song a 8.5/10.0. This one grows on you.

Chris Brown Re-Release Details!!!

Chris Brown's Upcoming Re-Release of Exclusive will be called "Exclusive: The Forever Edition." We're guessing it's called this due to the lead single for the re-release "Forever." There will be the original 16 tracks and "Forever," “Heart Ain’t A Brain,” “Super Human” featuring Keri Hilson, and the official “Picture Perfect Remix” featuring Bow Wow & Hurricane Chris. The CD will also have a DVD of the tour (performances) he was just on and behind the scenes footage of the tour.The re-release comes out June 3rd. We can't wait!!!

Nelly's "Party People" Video

Nelly's new video and new Lead single for his upcoming album, "Brass Knuckles". The song is deff. going to be played in the clubs. It has a fast hardcore beat and invigorating versues from Nelly. We think its a pretty good video for Nelly's upcoming LP. Hes sticking with his "Shake ya Tailfeather" vibe. Hopefully it works out for him and her can bring himself back to the Hip-Hop game as #1. Chris Brown's NEW SINGLE: "Forever"

Chris Brown is back with the new single "Forever." He decides to go with a Euro-Pop/Electronic beat. It's different than his normal R&B/Hip-Hop direction, but we're feeling it. The lyrics are great and catchy- he wrote them himself. We're already singing this song in our heads. Picture the video for this song! All we can see is DANCING GALORE!!! Awesome beat for krumpin', dancing, etc. It has a summer-like feel & kind of bubbly/happy feeling. You can tell the Rihanna-influence is starting to hit him... not a bad thing though. He is seeing the future of music- the electro-pop beat. We support this song as the lead single of the re-release of Exclusive due June 3rd(One week after Usher's album "Here I Stand" due May 27th, and same day as Ne-Yo's release of "Year of the Gentleman"). CB's voice is heavily vocalized yet it ads the electonic feeling to the song. He keeps his crisp voice and great range on lock! This song just makes us smile and get up off our behinds and groove a lil' bit. We all need that sometimes! Deff. download this one. Overall, we rate this song a 9.1/10.0!

With Usher's new album dropping in June, Here I Stand, the video for "Love in this Club" is getting ready to be released. The full video will be out next Monday, April 7th. The clip shows that "Love in this Club" has a "Yeah pt. 2" vibe to it. The video clip is only 30 seconds but it shows some of Usher's on-point choreography and some sensual parts with him and Keri hilson. We were afraid that Usher wouldn't dance in the video because hes aging... only 30 or so, but... he's definitley dancing... and the clip is towards the end of the song... so he prob kills it the rest of the song. We can't wait for the entire video... We'll be sure to post it when it comes out. Usher's back, and coming strong!!!

The "New" jackson 5 of the Era?

After the finale of MTB4, Day26 has just released their self-titled album. Diddy, who produced the album along with The Runners and Brian M. Cox, has created an unbelievable group that has five amazing artists. (Willie) who mesmerizes you with his mid-high pitch voice & has the potential to lead the group, as well as (Robert) who's bravado that pulls you into each song. (Mike) who's range is the most widespread in the group doesn't get as much stardom on the album as one would expect. (Que.) who's falsetto can be heard in the background of each song, as well as in most of the choruses simply puts the icing on the cake.(Brian) who according to Diddy is "The Weakest Link", has defied Diddy's original expectations, and has proved that he can hold his own with anyone else in the group.
Day26 is a very unique group with a unique sound that can be thought as a mix of old school Mo-town and new school R&B/Pop. This unique vibe is what makes them better than other R&B groups in the past. For Example, B2K and IMX were very generic and only released songs that appealed to younger teens. Day26's album is very versatile and can relate to the older generation of R&B/Soul.
Jackson 5 who swept the nation with their singles such as "ABC" and "I Want You Back" had that unique vibe that the time period was looking for. Their unique style, vocals, and charisma is very similar with Day26. Even though Day26 probably won't sell as many debut albums as The Jackson 5, they are an amazing conglomeration of R&B Superstars in the making... GO OUT AND BUY THAT ALBUM!!!

Yet another superb 18 year old r&b singer! This guy is coming after Chris Brown's proclaimed spot as 'Prince of R&B.' He has been around for a grand amount of time, but right when he turned 18 he began to get major label offers. His name is starting to be spread around the industry and is called 'The Future.' His single at the moment is "Do it To it." This single is self-produced... Oh, did I mention that he is a producer, writer, in addition to being an amazing singer?! His single is currently getting a lot of air play in the South. We give this song an 8.8 out of 10. I'm also including 2 other songs by Chrishan. One is titled "Too Late For Us" and is an awesome mid-tempo ballad with a very enriching, catchy hook and chorus. I was singing this song within 5 minutes. We give this song a 9.0 out of 10. Finally, a track titled "Exclusive." This song is also mid-tempo with a fair amount of bass. He is an awesome lyricist. We give this song an 8.7 out of 10.

Overall we give Chrishan about an 8.8 out of 10.0! We can't wait to hear his entire album(which he is currently in the studio working on).

Go listen to this guy!!! Remember he is only 18. He is coming for Chris Brown. This will be a real battle. He also is an amazing dancer and entertainer... sounds like Chris Brown Pt. 2! We'll try and find a video of Chrishan doing his thing, dancing it up.

Update: Usher

Ushers "official" versions of the songs "I Can't Win" and "Moving Mountains" are now out and ready for download! They show great growth by Ush and show, possibly, what his album could look like.

1. "I Can't Win": Ush shows off his voice and lets all his fans, and newcomers, know that he is back and ready to take on the r&b game once again. The ballad is written by Ne-Yo and produced by Stargate. The lyrics make an impact and keep you humming the song for awhiole after listening. We rate this song a 9.1.

2. "Moving Mountains": Once again, his voice is flawless. Timbaland produced this medi-slow seductive song. I can totally see this having a video where hes walking in the streets at night all bundled up after leaving his house from a fight with his girl or something. This track puts an interesting twist to normal Usher songs and shows us a new side/kind of song from him. There is a part in the song, at about the 3/4 point, where there isnt really any singing... only mumbling/echoing in the background. I'm wondering if this is where a duet or collabo will be inserted...but with who?! We'll have to see, if that is the case. We give this song an 8.9. Having a killer collabo would raise this song well into the 9's!

Brandon Hines: New Track

Brandon Hines has a NEW song! His track is titled "Look Me in My Face." This song has a semi-slow, medolic beat. His voice is very on-key and is projected just the right amount. He uses his voice in a much more mature way than his previous songs, in our opinion. The lyrics are also very well written. I'd like to find out who penned the lyrics and who the mastermind to the subtle-yet-intriguing beat is. In previous songs, it seems like Mr. Hines killed, in a bad way, his songs with the bridge... and the lack of an interesting hook.

This track should be Brandon Hines first real single. I can picture a hott remix with a rapper like Lil Wayne (beginning right after the bridge) or Kanye West. Even a rapper like Common would put a great spin on the song. If Kanye was featured they should speed the song up a little bit for the remix. We give this song a 8.3 on a 10.0 scale. J. Holiday - When you get Home

J. Holiday who's hit single "Bed" climbed up the billboard charts to the #4 spot has recorded many songs recently that didn't make his debut album. One in particular is "When you get Home" which I personally feel should have been one of the first selections for the album. It's a great slow jam that has an old-soul feel to it... overall it receives an 8.5/10.0, hope you enjoy!

New Music: USHER!

Usher is BACK! His long anticipated album is finally having a good amount of leaks. Ryan & I have been waiting for these songs for a long time now. The first leak, which is Untitled, is supposedly featuring Ne-Yo. The full song hasn't leaked just yet. Overall, its a great song with a nice ballad-tone that he and Ne-yo will rock all night long, again and again. The song is available on every blog. We'll post it when it 1) Has a name and 2) Is longer that 45 sec. or so. Anyways, we're going to post 2 songs recently leaked by the one-and-only Usher Raymond. One is titled "Love in This Club" and is apparently featuring Young Jeezy. The song we have has been ripped from the radio and is the version rotating on sites for about the last day or so. The song has a mesmerizing beat that makes you groove to it. Usher has evolved musically... it's nice to hear his voice again!!! As for the collabo with Jeezy... Its not a bad match, its somewhat awkward, but Jeezy does better than i originally expected. His verse is humorous and not overly sexual (like Rich Boy in Mario's "Kryptonite"). The download link is below. We won't rate the song until the HQ, or CQ, version is released so that we can hear all effects on the song, voice, etc. The next song is titled "Moving Mountains" and is produced by Timbaland. The cut is suppose to even feature Timbaland on the track somewhere. This song, in our opinion, will be like a "Damage"(Chris Brown), "Come Back to Me Shawty"(Tyrese), "Fiening You"(Omarion) kind of track. When the full version is released we will rush it to the site for download.

Overall, Usher seems to be coming back strong. If the leaked tracks continue to stay strong and showcase his vocal abilities and his ability to be on different beats/tracks, his new album (yet to be titled; or have a release date) will be platinum. All he needs now is some great promotion, an awesome first single & video, and a huge tour with a huge star like Chris Brown, J. Holiday, Kanye West, or someone!!! Get ready ya'll, he's here!!!

If you haven't already checked out "This Christmas" starring Chris brown, then you are missing out on an amazing holiday movie. Surprisingly his acting is as good as his musical talents, and I hope to see Chris in some more movies in the future.
